MobilityWorks Be There Juan

Throughout 2022, we are celebrating 25 years of MobilityWorks by sharing the stories of both our clients and our team members! As both the company and the wheelchair accessible vehicle industry have evolved, so have our standards for the way we train our team. For ten years, Juan Collazo has gone above and beyond in his role as Director of Organizational Development to ensure all new and existing team members have the behaviors and critical competencies needed to succeed in their role.

While you won’t run into him out in the showroom, each Certified Mobility Consultant or Service Technician you encounter has received training from Juan’s department. Over the years, he has helped develop an extensive training process unique to the wheelchair accessible vehicle industry to ensure that our teams have the necessary skills to deliver the best experience possible to our clients.

“When everyone knows exactly what they’re supposed to be doing and how to do it best, I think that that’s where the efficiency and the productivity increases. It just makes for a great experience for any client coming into our store,” he said.

Juan joined the company when MobilityWorks was only a dozen locations strong. Since then, he has watched the business grow to what it is today, with a network of over 90 locations nationwide.

“When I came in, we had about twelve stores, so I like to think that giving this organization ten years of my life has helped out in some of the things we do here operationally. I have a sense of ownership to that. The relationships, the networks, the friends, the clients…it sounds a little cliché, but it’s really like my home,” said Juan.

He continued, “To me, I want to see where this goes. When you join an organization at twelve stores and now you’re over ninety-five stores and it’s still growing, still evolving…I feel like I’m part of something bigger and I really look forward to that every day.”

Although Juan is fueled by his dedication to the MobilityWorks mission, there’s a personal connection that pushes him to deliver the best experience possible for our clients every day. As a Marine veteran, he understands how crucial it is for fellow veterans to have the ability to maintain their independence through mobility.

“Our ability to help veterans find solutions to get on the road, be there, do what they want to do, go where they want to go – that’s huge,” he said. “I think we definitely as a company, as a whole, go above and beyond for our veterans. That’s what we do here at MobilityWorks.”
