MobilityWorks of Albany Grand Opening

The MobilityWorks Albany team in front of their new store.

It was a perfect spring day on Thursday May 19th for Albany’s Grand Opening Event! Customers came out for the opportunity to learn more about the new products at MobilityWorks, enjoy a free lunch, and the chance to win exciting prizes. Cooper, Albany’s team “mascot”, was ready to greet customers at the door and enjoyed all of the attention. Vendors from all across the country (and even Canada) set up booths to meet with customers and display their latest mobility equipment.

Albany’s General Manger Dean Pells was very excited to be able to show clients the new store. “Unlike many of our other locations, Albany has never hosted an open house of any sort and because of that we had many long time clients, influencers, VA personnel and Medicaid Service Coordinators looking forward to this day since we started planning it late last fall.” Dean also said he was thrilled that over 200 people were able to attend!

NMEDA Training

The day started off with a training session hosted by NMEDA for Physical and Occupational Therapists. Their Conducting Wheelchair Transportation Assessment (CWTA) class is designed to help train health care professionals on the proper way to safely operate all types of mobility equipment. They were able to see first hand how to use commercial lifts, the proper way to transport their patients and how hand controls allow people in wheelchairs to operate almost any vehicle.

The new MobilityWorks Albany NY store is located at 1892 Central Ave, Suite 25 Albany, New York 12205.

MobilityWorks Introduces New Brand to Improve Customer Experience

MobilityWorks is proud to share with you our fresh new look.

MobilityWorks is pleased to announce a fresh new look for our customers. Since 1997, we have used our original branding and logo. Within the next few months, we will be rolling out an updated new look in our stores with new signs and more. You can experience this change online on our website and social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter. We can’t wait to help you connect with what matters with the same great customer service.

“We have very special customers and we are the leader in a very special industry,” MobilityWorks Vice President of Marketing Chris Paczak said. “At MobilityWorks, we do not empower our clients, we provide solution options to help them empower themselves.”

“We set out to redefine our brand message to our customers, influencers, and industry to speak on behalf of our customers and people with mobility limitations everywhere,” Chris said. “Our journey started with a partner agency, Wyse.  Together, we researched a focus group of 20,000 wheelchairs users. The results of our research have positioned our brand with a persona of ‘Value and Emotion’. At MobilityWorks, we do not just sell products; we change people’s lives and enable them to ‘Connect with what Matters’.  BE THERE was our chosen tagline. The tagline speaks to breaking down barriers, removing obstacles, and living life by having transportation that ensures you will BE THERE! The soft color pallet translates into a very personal and caring approach we have with our customers. The new logo is one that speaks to ‘Motion’ and a modern feel that will resonate with people when they see it.”

“At MobilityWorks, our brand is built from the heart,” Chris said. “Our employees and facilities are designed to make your experience with us as comfortable and valuable as possible. We are not a car dealership. We do not have sales people. We have highly trained Certified Mobility Consultants that will sit down with you, in person, to make sure that we are providing specific solutions for your needs, your lifestyle and your budget. Without this consultation, selecting a vehicle just based on price or sight unseen, adds a great deal of stress and the risk of purchasing the wrong product.  We find our customers the perfect solutions so they can be there.

Open for business on Monday, January 11th at:
MobilityWorks of Albany
1892 Central Avenue,  Suite #25
Albany, NY 12205

MobilityWorks is pleased to announce that our Albany location has moved to the Colonie Plaza shopping center! The new facility has a spacious showroom for our clients and families to come and see our many wheelchair van and adaptive equipment options.

Only 1 ½ miles from the previous location, it is still convenient for all of our eastern New York customers to come in and get the same great customer service.

MW Postcard_Albany-NY.indd“The Colonie Plaza is a large strip shopping center, anchored by a regional grocery store,” General Manager Dean Pells said. “The large parking lot allows for a great deal of ample parking, including many accessible spots close to our entrance. It is a brand new facility that allows us an additional 2000+ square feet of interior sales and service space and more interior van display space.”

The Colonie Plaza location has a traffic light at the entry and exit for a smoother traffic flow, as well as other benefits.

“There will be an additional accessible bathroom and more places to shop and eat within the plaza while customers are in for service,” Dean said. “Being only 1.4 miles west of our current location on the very same street means we are still very centrally located for our region. We are extremely excited for our new location!”

MobilityWorks Merger with Ride Away and Mobility Freedom Combines Ownership of 57 Dealer Locations in 21 States

MobilityWorks acquires hasco's ride away and mobility freedom

MobilityWorks made a stunning announcement last Friday with the revelation that they were going to merge with HASCO, the parent company of Ride Away and Mobility Freedom wheelchair van dealerships. The move significantly increases MobilityWorks’ presence along the East Coast where Ride Away has most of its locations, including the states of CT, FL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, PA, TX, VA, and VT. Mobility Freedom has six locations, all in the state of Florida.

With MobilityWorks’ current 35 showrooms and the new Ride Away and Mobility Freedom stores, the combined companies will have 57 locations in 21 states. Link to PR Newswire press release.

While MobilityWorks and Ride Away have been strong competitors for many years in a few metro areas, they share a mutual respect for each other and a passion for helping people with disabilities to be more independent.

“The people who make up MobilityWorks, Ride Away, and Mobility Freedom are the most caring and trusted professionals in the industry,” said Bill Koeblitz, President/CEO of MobilityWorks.

“We know the HASCO staff truly cares about their clients, and they will be a great fit within our culture and in our quest to help as many people as possible.”

In addition to selling new and used wheelchair vans, each of the companies also rents accessible vans, installs adaptive equipment (such as hand controls and scooter lifts), and works with local community groups on disability awareness issues.

Both Ride Away and Mobility Freedom have had a great history and reputation with their clients. No specific date has been discussed for merging the brands.  HASCO Medical, Inc., located in Dallas, TX, is a publicly traded company and therefore the merger is subject to all applicable SEC federal securities laws and filings.

Founded in 1997 with one location, MobilityWorks has been recognized on the Inc. 500|5000 list of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing privately held companies for the past eight years. The Commercial Division, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is the largest converter of full-size wheelchair vans in the country and Ford Motor Company’s largest mobility upfitter.
