September 5th is International Charity Day

Abel Garcia is a 10 years old quadriplegic that lives in San Antonio, Texas. He started a GoFundMe campaign that we’ve added to our Crowdfunding page.

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey that devastated parts of Texas and Louisiana, we felt it was appropriate to share that September 5th is International Charity Day.

September 5th is recognized by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day of Charity. The purpose of this recognized day is to help raise awareness for charity related activities all over the world for individuals and families, charitable, philanthropic and non-profit organizations whether it may be local, regional or global level.

The International Day of Charity was conceived as a Hungarian Civil Society to enhance visibility, organize special events and increase social responsibility and public support for charitable causes. The holiday was officially recognized in 2012 by the United Nations.

In honor of this recognized day, please take a moment to read more about some of the individuals and families who could use your support in achieving their dream of a wheelchair accessible van. To learn more about Abel Garcia’s story (pictured above), go to his GoFundMe page here

San Antonio and Selma Texas Locations to Close on Saturday in Preparation for Heavy Winds, Flooding and Power Outages

To prepare for the inevitable winds, rain and other effects of Hurricane Harvey, our San Antonio and Selma Texas stores will be closed this Saturday, Aug 26, 2017. Our plans are to be open again on Monday, or as soon as possible, depending on the severity of damage and power availability.

For those clients who are in the path of the storm and bracing for the impact as well, we urge you to follow all local and state government’s authority’s request to evacuate when necessary. You should have plenty of clean water available, flashlights, a batter powered radio for alerts, non-perishable food items and blankets.

At midday on Friday, tropical-storm-force winds were already occurring along the middle Texas coast, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). A sustained wind of 43 mph and a wind gust to 48 mph were recently reported at the Bob Hall Pier near Corpus Christi, Texas.

To all of our friends in the Corpus Christi, Houston and other Eastern Texas areas in the path of the storm, please be safe and be careful. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Contacting Our San Antonio and Selma Staff

If you are a client and need to get in touch with our San Antonio or Selma personnel, please call our Client Care Center at 1-877-275-4907 and we will relay messages to them as best we can.  You can also write to us electronically at Contact Us. MobilityWorks Receives Inc. 500|5000 Recognition

Once again, we are extremely honored to be recognized by Inc. Magazine for our accomplishments in providing consumers and businesses with quality wheelchair accessible vans and commercial transport solutions. The magazine selects 5,000 companies each year to be on their annual list, which is based on reaching a certain level of growth compared to other companies also being considered. This is the twelfth time that MobilityWorks has been given this recognition.

“Giving personalized and outstanding service” is how CEO and Founder Bill Koeblitz defines what’s important to him and the staff at MobilityWorks. He goes on to say, “What we do has so much impact on people’s lives, we have to get it right.”

In business since 1997, MobilityWorks now has over 1,000 full-time employees. Most of them work directly with the clients and their families in 69 showrooms located in 24 states.  Two manufacturing facilities (in Akron, OH and Kansas City, KS) are operated by its TransitWorks division. They are Ford Motor Company’s largest mobility upfitter and also modify Ram and Mercedes full-size vans with floor plan option that carry up to 15 passengers.
