Assistive seating is designed to help people with a disability move from their wheelchair (or scooter) into the front seat of a vehicle. A motorized, assistive seat works through controls that allow it to move backward, forward, up, down and side-ways.
Assistive seating can be installed in most types/brands of vehicles; including sedans, SUVs, wagons, crossovers, minivans, pick-up trucks and full-size vans.
Assistive seating typically has a lifting capacity of up to 600 lbs., so a vast majority of people can be accommodated. However, please note that if you are exceptionally tall or have long legs, you may not have enough room to swivel. We recommend that you speak with a Certified Mobility Consultant to evaluate your situation and determine your options.
A hoist-style scooter lift is also known as a boom lift. A hoist-style lift looks like a construction crane with an arm that straps to attach to a scooter or powerchair and then raises and lowers it. These motorized devices come in various designs to accommodate different scooter and/or powerchair weight capacities. Please note that scooter/powerchair lifts are only for use with unoccupied chairs.
A platform-style lift works to raise and lower an unoccupied scooter or wheelchair into a vehicle. All you need to do is simply roll your mobility device onto the platform from either side. With the push of a button, an arm then secures the scooter or wheelchair and raises the platform off the ground to store your mobility device in your vehicle for you. Securement belts are included for safety during transport. An optional interior barrier system is also available for added safety and convenience.
An exterior-style scooter lift (also known as an external lift) is designed to mount onto the rear towing hitch of a vehicle. This easy-to-use product lifts and stores your unoccupied scooter or powerchair outside your vehicle at the touch of a button. You simply roll your mobility device onto the platform from either side, hit a button, and let it do the rest. Scooters and power chairs are automatically secured when the lift is raised. Retractable belts are also available for additional securement.
