We are pleased to announce that on Monday August 12th, at 8AM, our new Oakland CA location will officially open its doors for business. The address is 1822 Embarcadero Ave., Oakland, CA 94606.

The Oakland location is adjacent to I-880 on the Oakland Inner Harbor across from the Alameda Coast Guard station and Alameda Island. With Oakland, and our recent VCI Mobility additions in PA and NJ, the total number of MobilityWorks consumer store showrooms has risen to 30 throughout the country – with 8 in California! Our other California showrooms are located in Burlingame (near San Francisco), Chico, Fresno, Pasadena, Santa Clara, Sacramento and Van Nuys (near Los Angeles).

Visitors to the store will meet with Mark Magnus, our Oakland General Manager, and Leo Fazzi, Service Manager. New and pre-owned wheelchair vans will be available for purchase or to rent. We will also be installing scooter lifts, wheelchair lifts on full-size vans, hand controls, turning seats and more. Commercial clients can also get their lifts serviced at the new facility.

MobilityWorks Adds Van Conversions Inc with Four Wheelchair Van Showrooms

VCI Mobility has locations in Bethlehem PA, Norristown PA (near Philadelphia), Cinnaminson NJ and Woodbury NJ.

Acquisition Includes Philadelphia and Bethlehem, PA Markets

We are very excited to announce another acquisition that allows us to serve more people in the areas of Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. Van Conversions Inc (aka VCI Mobility) has been serving the area since 1984 with accessible van sales, scooter lifts, service and rentals – in addition to Commercial vehicles.

VCI Mobility has two Pennsylvania locations; in Norristown and Bethlehem, and two New Jersey locations; in Cinnaminson and Woodbury. With four new VCI Mobility locations, MobilityWorks now has 30 consumer showrooms nationwide in 12 different states. A new store location in Oakland, California will be open for business August 12th.

Although it was originally announced in press release on June 25th, Bill Koeblitz, MobilityWorks President/CEO and Jack Donovan, President and co-owner of Van Conversions Inc in Norristown, PA officially closed the deal on August 7th.

“It was very important to me that MobilityWorks had the same kind of caring culture that we have at VCI. The people always come first,” said VCI Mobility President and co-owner Jack Donovan. Mr. Donovan will continue to manage the four VCI consumer locations, along with other members of the VCI management team.

MobilityWorks Adds New Location in Gallatin Tennessee

MobilityWorks Tennessee stores are located in Chattanooga, Gallatin and La Vergne (just south of Nashville).

MobilityWorks Now Serving Three Tennessee Locations

MobilityWorks has announced the acquisition of specific assets of Tennessee Mobility located in Gallatin, TN. With this new location, MobilityWorks will have 25 consumer showrooms in 12 US states. Another location in Oakland, CA is scheduled to open in August.

Established in 1999, Tennessee Mobility, Inc was started as a family business serving the populations of Northern Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. All services at the Gallatin location going forward will be operated under the MobilityWorks name. A wide selection of new and pre-owned handicap vans is being shipped to the Gallatin store within the next two weeks for the public to come and visit. Showroom hours will initially be from 8AM to 5PM weekdays and Saturdays by appointment. We will also accommodate at-home demonstrations in the near future for those who cannot travel to the store.

Tennessee Organizations Helping Elderly and Disabled Residents

We often have organizations asking if we can share a link on our website so that visitors can benefit from the services they provide. In this post we are focusing on a few organizations helping our friends in Nashville and Chattanooga TN. Tennessee Disability Coalition

The Coalition is an alliance of organizations and individuals who have joined to promote the full and equal participation of men, women and children with disabilities in all aspects of life. We work together to advocate for public policy that ensures self-determination, independence, empowerment, and inclusion for people with disabilities in areas such as accessibility, education, healthcare, housing, and voting rights.

Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability

The goal of Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability is to advocate for and to strive to achieve a system of services that allows older persons and persons with disabilities the opportunity for an independent and productive lifespan. This is accomplished through three primary areas of emphasis: Advocacy, Service, and Planning.

Signal Centers

Signal Centers is comprised of four programs – Adult Services, Assistive Technology Services, Children’s Services and the Child Care Resource & Referral Network. Signal Centers Children’s Services support over 120 children with disabilities at three Tennessee locations – Chattanooga, Cleveland and Athens. Signal Centers also offers an adult day program for adults over 55 with disabilities. The Assistive Technology Services was created in 1991 and is located at 2300 Bailey Avenue in Chattanooga. AT Services assesses individuals with disabilities of all ages and recommends technology to enhance self-sufficiency.

Team Centers

TEAM Centers, Inc (originally “TEAM Evaluation Center”) is a private, non-profit agency started as a collaborative initiative by local community leaders, the Medical Society, and the Metropolitan Council. TEAM helps with the evaluation and assessment of people with developmental disabilities across all ages. They focus on developmental medicine, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy, and social work.

Multiple Sclerosis Society Mid South Chapter

The Mid South Chapter of the National MS Society is a community of individuals who are committed to achieving a world free of MS. The Chapter helps over 9,000 individuals throughout Tennessee, northern Georgia, northern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas impacted by MS to move their lives forward. We provide comprehensive support services and educational programs to people with MS, their family and friends, and raise funds locally to support the National MS Society’s research initiatives.

Our Nashville store is just off of I-24 Waldron Road exit in La Vergne TN. Located in Davidson County in the north central part of the state, it is Tennessee’s second largest city with a population of more than 600,000 (second only to Memphis). Our Chattanooga showroom and service location is just off I-75 and the E. Brainerd Rd exit. Chattanooga is in the southeast portion of the state in Hamilton County.
