5 Generations Reunited!

Gathering with family for life’s big moments is more important than ever this year. A 98-year-old Minnesota woman was finally able to meet her great-great granddaughter this spring, bringing five generations under one roof.

For Mother’s Day, Lee Ann Grimley’s daughter and her husband planned to bring their new baby over to visit her grandparents. It was expected to be a wonderful reunion, but Lee Ann’s father knew that someone else was missing.

His mother, who turns 99 in July, has lived in a care facility for several years and had not seen the family farm in five years. Given that she has difficulty keeping her balance and does not feel comfortable getting in and out of a car, he desperately wanted to find a way to transport his mother, along with her wheelchair, in order to bring her home to meet her great-great granddaughter.

The family reached out to our Waite Park store in search of a wheelchair accessible rental van they could use to safely pick up their grandmother and make sure that she not only had the opportunity to see her youngest relative, but to once again see the home farm where she spent so much of her life.

Lee Ann wrote to MobilityWorks Sales Administrator Linda Kaiser, “The van worked great and was easy to use. We took Grandma on a drive around town and to see some of the newly planted fields.” She continued, “Thanks to you, my grandmother got to hold my granddaughter and we took a photo of all five generations on the home farm. It means so much to my family.”

The little things in life, like visiting with family or seeing a beloved place for the first time in years, are often the things that matter the most. Our rental department is here to provide temporary transportation needs, so you can make memories to last a lifetime.
