In Delaware, there are different agencies and non-profits that have various programs designed to help people in need of adaptive driving equipment or wheelchair transportation. Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs

The Commission is dedicated to assisting veterans and their family members in obtaining benefits and working with other government agencies and civic organizations to facilitate assistive services. The Commission is an advisory board appointed by the Governor to represent Delaware’s veterans. The Commission coordinates programs and objectives in State-wide advocacy for veterans affairs.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore

Easterseals provides services to help children and adults with disabilities and/or special needs as well as support to their families. They have been helping families for 65 years. Today, Easterseals reaches more than 25,000 individuals and their families annually at 6 Easterseals service sites located in Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Delaware Statewide Independent Living Council

The purpose of the SILC is to promote the philosophy of independent living, including a philosophy of consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and individual and systems advocacy, in order to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence, and productivity of individuals with disabilities, and the integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of American society.

Community Legal Aid Society, Inc.- Delaware

The Disabilities Law Program (“DLP”) is a special project of Community Legal Aid Society, Inc., which is designated by the Governor as the Protection and Advocacy agency in Delaware. The DLP provides advocacy services to Delaware residents with physical or mental disabilities. They prioritize their services based on federal agency guidance and needs identified by consumer and community groups.
