Rear entry ramps are spring-loaded, making it relatively easy to raise and lower the wheelchair ramp. This type of conversion van is considered to be one of the most economical wheelchair vans available because of their simplistic design.
For some people, a side entry vehicle doesn't meet their lifestyle or parking grange needs. Rear entry vans provide an economically friendly accessible option that takes the worry out of narrow aisle ways and other side entry limitations. Rear entry lowered floor conversions are seamlessly engineered to make wheelchair minivans as barrier-free as possible.
Above is a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan with a MobilityWorks Rear Entry Conversion.
MobilityWorks newly designed wheelchair accessible minivan is currently available with Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country vans. The rear entry minivan conversion features a fold-out ramp that is slightly more than 32" wide with 56" of entrance head room. It maintains two rear passenger seats, in addition to the wheelchair secured area and tie-downs.
In addition to vans for personal use, the rear entry minivan is becoming very popular for taxi operators, nursing homes,
group homes and rental agencies. The MobilityWorks rear entry conversion is ADA and FMVSS compliant.
