MobilityWorks and BraunAbility Team Up to Help American Idol Fiancee

The fans of American Idol fell in love with Chris Medina and his wheelchair-bound fiancée Juliana Ramos during his audition in Milwaukee.  After the judges gave him the good news that he was going to continue on in the competition, they told him they wanted to meet his fiancée.  He wheeled her out to meet the judges and Steven Tyler whispered in her ear “That's why he sings so good, because he sings to you."

Juliana was involved in a car accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury. The accident occurred in October of 2009, just two months before she and Chris were to be married. Chris has stayed by her side as her primary caregiver along with her mother.  Juliana needs a lot of physical therapy and up until now it has been very difficult transporting her and her wheelchair to therapy.

To help Juliana and Chris, MobilityWorks and BraunAbility have teamed up to provide them with a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan outfitted with an automated ramp, which will enable Juliana to be wheeled right into the van and buckled up.

 In an interview with Southtown Star Reporter Victoria Johnson, Chris said “If it’s easier for us to get her in the car to take her out to dinner, she’ll want to go to those places more,” Medina said. “I think that’s really how this van helps. It brings back better quality to our lives. It’s just a very nice gesture. Having this van really means a lot to us.”
