What is a NEMSO?

NEMSO is an acronym used by the Ohio Medical Transportation Board for a Non-Emergency Medical Service Organization. It is a person or organization that does both of the following:
Provides services to the public on a regular basis to transport individuals who require the use of a wheelchair or are confined to a wheelchair to receive health care services at health care facilities or health care practitioners' offices in non-emergency circumstances; AND (b) Provides the services for a fee, regardless of whether the fee is paid by the person being transported, a third party payer, or any other person or government entity.
